Seven actors from the original West End company will be reprising the roles they originated on stage in the UK. Jamie Parker will be back as Harry Potter, Noma Dumezweni returns as Hermione Granger and Paul Thornley reprises the role of Ron Weasley.

Poppy Miller (Ginny Potter), Sam Clemmett (Albus Potter), Alex Price (Draco Malfoy) and Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy) will also be heading to New York to bring their characters to life on Broadway.

We already know they’re great; after all, the London production has earned 22 major theatre awards, including a record-breaking nine Olivier Awards and Best Play at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

Speaking to Pottermore, Jamie Parker said, “I cannot wait to bring Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to Broadway, so a whole new audience can have their chance to come along. Theatre land in New York City is one of the most exciting places going.”

An equally thrilled Noma Dumezweni said, “New York – Broadway – it's happening! To be able to go there with this extraordinary show... My dream list is ticked! Playing a character who means so much to me and, of course, to so many, makes it even more special. It’s an absolute privilege and I’m looking forward to this next adventure working with our Broadway company.”

Paul Thornley added, “It has been the most brilliant job and this is the cherry on the icing on the top of a massive cake. Look out New York, the wizards are coming!”

Joining these familiar faces will be (deep breath): David Abeles, Brian Abraham, Shirine Babb, Jess Barbagallo, Stephen Bradbury, Lauren Nicole Cipoletti, Joshua De Jesus, Jessie Fisher, Richard Gallagher, Susan Heyward, Geraldine Hughes, Edward James Hyland, Byron Jennings, Katie Kreisler, Joey LaBrasca, Andrew Long, Kathryn Meisle, Angela Reed, Dave Register, Adeola Role, James Romney, Malika Samuel, Alanna Saunders, David St. Louis, Stuart Ward, Madeline Weinstein, Alex Weisman and Benjamin Wheelwright.

The cast will also include four children, who will alternate two roles.

“We have assembled an extraordinary cast for Broadway,” said director John Tiffany. “Our Cursed Child family is growing with 28 brilliant new actors bringing their unique talents to our production.

“I also can’t wait to dive back into it with seven of our original London cast members reprising their thrilling performances for New York audiences. The adventure continues.”

The Broadway production’s preview performances will begin in March 2018, with the official gala opening at the newly renovated Lyric Theatre on 22 April.

Tickets will go on sale on 12 October exclusively through the Ticketmaster Verified Fan programme. This will be the first time that any Broadway show has used this programme, which protects ticket buyers from bots and ticket scalpers.

The tickets will be available through a registration process and ticket buyers must pre-register to be in with a chance to get tickets; the registration will open at 10am EDT on 1 October and close at 10pm EDT on 5 October.
