By the time they make their memorable departure from Hogwarts, Fred and George have wreaked light-hearted havoc all over the castle, ensuring that they, and their legacy, won’t be forgotten in a hurry. Here, we take a look at every time our favourite pair of pranksters caused mischief throughout the Harry Potter books.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

  1. Bewitching several snowballs to follow Professor Quirrell around
  2. Stealing and hiding Percy’s Prefect badge, resulting in being chased by Percy
  3. Attempting to send a lavatory seat to Harry in the hospital wing
  4. Harry discovers Fred and George have a whole drawer to themselves in Filch’s cabinet of rule-breaking students
  5. Trying to find out what would happen if you fed a Filibuster Firework to a Salamander
  6. Attempting to ‘cheer Ginny up’ by covering themselves with fur or boils, and jumping out at her from behind statues
  7. Marching ahead of Harry down corridors, shouting the words ‘Make way for the heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through…’
  8. Continuously serenading Harry with the song ‘His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad…’
  9. Setting off the last of their Filibuster Fireworks on the Hogwarts Express journey home
  10. Putting beetles in Percy’s soup in Egypt
  11. ‘Improving’ Percy’s Head Boy badge
  12. Giving Harry the Marauder’s Map
  13. Letting off a Dungbomb in a corridor in their first year, thus being hauled to Filch’s office. George then dropped another Dungbomb once in the office causing a diversion, enabling Fred to steal the Marauder’s Map from the Confiscated and Highly Dangerous drawer
  14. Setting off half-a-dozen Dungbombs in the common room, in a fit of end-of-term high spirits
  15. Dudley Dursley eats one of Fred and George’s Ton-Tongue Toffees
  16. Attempting to smuggle as many Ton-Tongue Toffees out of the house as possible before leaving The Burrow, resulting in a telling-off from Mrs Weasley
  17. Showing their invented trick wand to Ludo Bagman at the Quidditch World Cup
  18. Trying to trick the Age Line around the Goblet of Fire, in order to enter their names
  19. Neville turns into a large canary in the Gryffindor common room, due to having eaten one of Fred and George’s invented Canary Creams
  20. Bewitching their trunks to fly down the stairs of Grimmauld Place. They end up accidentally knocking Ginny down two flights of stairs
  21. Telling a tale about when, in their O.W.L. year, Fred put Bulbadox powder in Kenneth Towler’s pyjamas, resulting in him coming out in boils
  22. Testing out their Skiving Snackboxes on innocent-looking first years
  23. Perfecting their first complete Skiving Snackbox and demonstrating its contents to students in the Gryffindor common room
  24. Taking it in turns to point their wands at the back of Zacharias Smith during a D.A. lesson, silently disarming him
  25. Pelting snowballs at Ron’s face through the window of the common room
  26. Demonstrating their invented Headless Hats
  27. Putting an Enlargement Charm on the cover of the banned Quibbler edition, and hanging it on the common room wall

  30. Turning a school corridor into a swamp
  31. Following the swamp prank, the twins make their unforgettable exit from Hogwarts
  32. Hermione gets punched in the face at the The Burrow by one of Fred and George’s trick telescopes
  33. Running an Owl Order Service to Hogwarts students
  34. Trying to make Ron take an ‘Unbreakable Vow’ when he was five
  35. Teasing Ron about his girlfriend, prompting Ron to throw the sprouts knife at Fred – who turns it into a paper aeroplane
  36. Impressing a local Muggle girl, who thinks their card tricks are ‘something marvellous… almost like real magic…’
  37. Ron uses one of Fred and George’s Spell-Checking quills, the charm wears off and it starts misspelling words
