The Quibbler Fact File Body Text

Written, edited, printed and distributed by Xenophilius Lovegood, The Quibbler started as a fringe publication that focused on rumours and conspiracy theories, such as the existence of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack and [Sirius Black](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/sirius-black)'s 'secret identity'. It gradually grew in popularity and reputability, however, as it continued to support [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter)'s account of the return of Lord Voldemort while [The Daily Prophet](/fact-file/objects/the-daily-prophet) remained in denial.

An eccentric [Ravenclaw](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/ravenclaw) student, member of [Dumbledore’s Army](/fact-file/magical-miscellany/dumbledores-army) and close friend of [Harry Potter](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/harry-potter), Luna Lovegood might have been nicknamed ‘Loony’ for her quirky ways, but she was in fact often one of Harry’s most clear-sighted friends. Luna was undeterred in her belief in herself and her friends but with a father who edited the notoriously unreliable [Quibbler](/fact-file/objects/the-quibbler) magazine and a unique personal style, including homemade dirigible plum earrings, Luna had no choice but to stand out from the crowd. Her courage, loyalty and kindness earned her place in Harry’s circle of most trusted friends.

Given away free in an issue of [The Quibbler](/fact-file/objects/the-quibbler), Spectrespecs were large, bright spectacles that were intended to show up Wrackspurts - invisible creatures that caused brain fog, apparently. [Luna Lovegood](/fact-file/characters-and-pets/luna-lovegood) was a proud wearer of a pair of Spectrespecs (she was described as looking like a "colourful owl") but the trend didn't quite catch on.
