Why should I register?

When you register on pottermore.com, you can be sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin) and be chosen by a wand. You will then have access to a downloadable set of visual assets to share on your social media channels, to show which house you're in. You can also stay up-to-date with all the latest wider Wizarding World news – including updates from the set of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and behind the scenes of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play.

 
Why have I not received my verification email?

We advise you to check your spam folder first. We do our best to ensure Pottermore emails aren't marked as spam, but in some cases, your email provider might treat automatically-generated emails as junk.

If it's not in spam, you may have entered your email address incorrectly. To change it, please visit My Details under Settings, and check the email address. If it is incorrect, you should create a new account with the correct email address. (We are working on a feature to let you update your email address. Thanks for your patience while we’re working on it!)

 
Why can I not register?

Pottermore.com was relaunched to appeal to a more mature audience and so, if you do not meet our age requirements, you cannot register. It is important for us to protect the privacy and data of all users, and some of our services are now subject to age restrictions. How do I reset my password?

Click here, enter your email address and follow the instructions in your email.

 
How do I unsubscribe from marketing messages?

Please visit your Profile page, go to My Details and uncheck the check box about marketing preferences.

 
How do I find my old username?

Your old username is on your original registration email confirmation and your Pottermore Certificate, if you can’t find it, please email us at usernames@team.pottermore.com from the email address you originally registered. Please allow five minutes to receive your reminder.

 
What do I do if I have multiple old Pottermore usernames?

Choose the Pottermore username you wish to reclaim. Then follow the 'Reclaim' option once you've registered. All the information you need on being sorted is in our handy visual guide.

 
Where are my trunk, pets, galleons, collectibles, friends?

These features have been retired to make way for our new developments.

 
Is my profile on Pottermore public?

No, all profiles on Pottermore are private, and your wizarding identity is for your eyes only!

 
Can you give me the details of my old account?

Unfortunately, we cannot reveal old account details, due to our Privacy & Cookies Policy

 
My child used to be a member of Pottermore and now we can’t reclaim his/her account – why is that?

The new Pottermore has been designed to appeal to a more mature audience. Childrens’ accounts have been closed in connection with the removal of the previous version of Pottermore.com, and the associated account data has been deleted and cannot be reclaimed. We are highly committed to protecting the privacy and data of our users and some of our services are now subject to age restrictions. Why do you need usernames for old accounts to reclaim house and wand information?

We take personal information very seriously, and we did not want to use email addresses to migrate user information from the old Pottermore. For this reason, as a feature, we let users enter usernames to see information from the past. Don’t forget – you will never be able to change your old house and wand – why not try getting sorted again here?
