There’s so much to tell you.
What is this shiny new website? Where did the old one go? What was Ginny Weasley’s Patronus again? Which dragon did Harry Potter battle in the first test of the Triwizard Tournament? What exactly is a ‘Cursed Child’ and are you sure the stage play isn’t a prequel? What’s Eddie Redmayne really like? Do the Pottermore staff work in a castle?
You’ve got a lot of questions. We’ve got a lot to tell you.
So let’s make a deal: you continue to love that lightning-scarred wizard and the world he lives in and we’ll bring you as much insider information as possible. We're talking reports straight from the set of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, behind the scenes glimpses of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two, sneak peeks at new writing and news about J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World.
But first. A few answers.
What is this shiny new website?
It’s the digital heart of the wizarding world, that’s what.
This is where you’ll be able to read brand new writing by J.K. Rowling (yes, it’s canon), check out magical characters, objects, spells and places, reminisce about the first time you read the books, ruminate on advice from the great Albus Dumbledore, speculate about Newt Scamander, try to guess the identity of the Cursed Child, fall in love with the stories all over again and so much more.
We recommend getting lost on the site. There are so many beautiful secrets lurking if you stay long enough to find them. Have a look around, and come back! Come back tomorrow! And the next day and the next day and the day after that! We’re updating the site all the time.
Like any good universe, the wizarding world keeps expanding, and Pottermore will expand with it. We’ll bring you new stories, new magical experiences, new interviews, and new sneak peeks behind the scenes every day until the end of time and/or the Internet.
Where did the old one go?
Ah, website heaven? We’ve held the ultimate House Cup, postponed Potions class, and shut down the original pottermore.com. The honest-to-Merlin reason for doing that? We have so much more to give you: writing, movies, plays, books, characters, places, backstories, and more.
And the icing on the Cauldron Cake? The new Pottermore logo is in J.K. Rowling’s own handwriting.
What about the Sorting Ceremony? And where’s the Patronus test?
You can now also find out the form of your Patronus and ponder what that means. And who knows what other magical things we’ll conjure up? If you keep an eye on the News section, you’ll be the first to hear what’s coming next and when. Because the site is ever-evolving and we’d truly value your opinion, tell us what you think and we’ll work our magic on it.
Who is the Cursed Child?
Nice try, next question.
Are you sure the play isn’t a prequel?
Extremely sure. Very, very, sure.
What’s Eddie Redmayne really like?
We’ll find out for you, if you insist.
What about that dragon in the Triwizard Tournament?
We suggest clicking right here for a reminder (you're welcome).
Do the Pottermore staff work in a castle?
No, but that idea is going straight into the Suggestion Box.
As for Ginny's Patronus...
