James and Oliver Phelps, who played the Weasley twins, will be joined by their on-screen sister Ginny at the Universal Orlando Resort event.
Were you considering a trip to Florida in January? Here’s some more incentive for you: Bonnie Wright, best known as Ginny Weasley from the Harry Potter film series, will be taking part in the annual three-day fan weekend A Celebration of Harry Potter – alongside James and Oliver Phelps and Stanislav Yanevski, who played Durmstrang’s Triwizard contestant and Quidditch ace, Viktor Krum.
The event – as the name suggests – celebrates the Wizarding World and will take place on 26-28 January at Universal Orlando Resort. The actors aren’t the only draws, either: there will be all sorts of enticing panels held by such luminaries as Jany Tamime (the costume designer behind the last six Harry Potter films) and John Richardson (special effects supervisor on all eight of the movies). Jany’s panel will be called ‘The Magic of Costumes in Harry Potter’ and John’s talk will be about the behind-the-scenes secrets you can discover at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London (such as how did all those candles float around on set?).
There’ll also be a panel called ‘Graphic Design for Film: Creating the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes’ with Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, the genius graphic designers from MinaLima who are currently working hard on the new Fantastic Beasts movie.
If you head to Celebration you’ll also have access to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort, which include a fully realised Diagon Alley, and a replica of the Hogwarts Express that takes you to Hogsmeade, where you can dine at Three Broomsticks, join Harry Potter and his friends on an adventure around Hogwarts, and much more. And as for more special guests for 2018 ... you’ll just have to wait and see.
