The new book, released later this year, tells the official story of the record-breaking production.
Today, Scholastic in the US and Little, Brown in the UK have revealed their covers for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: The Journey, which is the official behind-the-scenes book of the production and its journey to the stage.
Let's have a look.
The Scholastic cover puts the famous Cursed Child nest front and centre. The cover is also adorned with a number of motifs – stars and crescent moons – which will be familiar to anyone who has seen the play at the various venues in which it is playing.
Here’s the UK version.
We also got a sneak peek at some pages and photos from within the book as well – it’s chock-full of beautiful colour photography as well never-before-seen sketches and candid backstage images.
The book explores Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from the earliest phases of development with producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, to the crafting of the eighth story with J.K. Rowling, director John Tiffany and playwright Jack Thorne, and the bringing together of the extraordinary team of artists and actors who took this new part of Harry Potter’s story to the stage. You’ll be told about the development of the movement and magic that has been so celebrated, the all-important WHAM (Wigs, Hair and Makeup) department, and the stunning set design in theatres across the world. In its big, hardback coffee table format, when we say it’s a deluxe edition, we really mean it!
Performances are ongoing in London, New York and Melbourne, with shows opening in San Francisco in October, followed by a German language production in Hamburg opening in Spring 2020, and Toronto in Autumn 2020. Visit the official website for further information.
