Sam Clemmett reflects on playing Albus Potter in Cursed Child

Sam Clemmett reflects on over six months of Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre.

As Cursed Child continues to spread the magic, actor Sam Clemmett says he keeps finding ‘new little nuances’ in the show every day.

It’s hard to believe that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has now been playing at the Palace Theatre for nearly six months, but Sam Clemmett is confident the show is fresher than ever before.

Sam has earnt huge fan recognition over the months for his role as Albus Severus Potter, and took a moment in the theatre to reflect on how things have been going. Have a look.

‘We’re in a really interesting place now we’re over 100 shows, so we’ve been doing it a very, very long time,’ Sam admitted. ‘And it’s quite easy for something like this to become stale.’

‘But we have such a talented company of people and you do keep finding new little nuances on a daily basis that add to the performance, change to the performance, and that’s why we do what we do.’

After recently winning an Evening Standard award for Best Play, it’s clear to see that the magic of Cursed Child just keeps on coming.

‘John [Tiffany] has put a team of beautiful, beautiful people together,’ Sam said fondly. ‘We love telling the story.’

We understand. And we certainly wouldn’t mind reliving this amazing story over and over again either!
