Oh, hello. Did you know that a little old film we haven’t mentioned much is out in cinemas today? It’s called Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and here’s everything you need to know about it – including the accompanying screenplay.

So, the second film in the Fantastic Beasts series is now out in cinemas, and if you want even more magic, J.K. Rowling’s original screenplay is published today too! The film follows Newt’s adventures with his magical creatures, the ascent of Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, and the reappearance of some old Wizarding World friends. This latest adventure is quite the jetsetter, taking us from New York to London to Paris, with many magical shocks to be had along the way.

Here’s a handy lowdown of all the excitement on this rather special day.

The second film teases many Harry Potter connections

As many of you will have seen from the trailers, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has many familiar elements we recognise from the Harry Potter books and films. As well as the return of Hogwarts (which comes accessorised with a lovely Dumbledore too!) we’re also reintroduced to many recognisable magical objects, characters and other easter eggs. We’ll let you watch the film to discover them yourself, but here’s a little teaser video to whet your appetite.

The midnight screenings were in full swing

As all good Harry Potter fans know, when a new chapter of the Wizarding World is upon us, it’s time for a midnight knees-up. Last night was no different, with fans celebrating the film’s release all over at nighttime screenings, as well as events at bookshops across the country marking the simultaneous publication of the screenplay. Here’s a look at some of the action:

Design dream-team MinaLima hosted a little soirée

Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima have been designing the props, posters and little details of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films for many years now, so of course they were on hand for a little celebration. The duo have created many new beautiful pieces for the new film, which are currently on display at their shop, House of MinaLima.

LEGO Nifflers invaded the UK

Yes, you heard us. From Edinburgh to Cardiff to London, LEGO Nifflers suddenly started appearing all over the place, on the hunt for shiny things, as is their wont. Indeed, the Nifflers have been spotted near London’s diamond district, Hatton Garden, as well as the Tower of London, where the crown jewels are kept. Thankfully, no Niffler break-ins have been reported.

Each LEGO Niffler was meticulously put together with over 11,000 bricks.

There’s also new audiobook out today digging behind the scenes...

Dan Fogler, who portrays Jacob Kowalski in the Fantastic Beasts series, has lent his charming voice to a new audio documentary, courtesy of our friends Pottermore Publishing and Audible Originals. Dive deep into the behind-the-scenes stories of the new film, which features interviews from the cast, crew and many of the great minds behind the magic.
