The screenplay for the next Fantastic Beasts film, written by J.K. Rowling, will be available to buy upon the film’s release on 16 November 2018.

Fancy more reasons to be excited about November? In that case – good news! Just like the first Fantastic Beasts film, the second movie – Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – will be accompanied by a screenplay, once again written by J.K. Rowling. The new screenplay coincides with the film’s worldwide release in cinemas this November.

Set in J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world, the second of the five-film series that began with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them moves from New York to London and on to Paris. Expanding on earlier events that helped shape the wizarding world, there are some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories – so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.

We don’t want to give too much away, of course, but here is a snapshot of what is in store. At the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured in New York with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escapes custody and sets about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. You can see the first trailer for the new film here.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists Newt, his former Hogwarts student, who agrees to help once again, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

The published screenplay will comprise J.K. Rowling’s full script of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, featuring a cast of both familiar and new magical creatures and characters.

The eBook edition will be available right here on Pottermore, while the English language hardback print editions will be published by Little, Brown Book Group in the UK, and Scholastic in the US and Canada.

You can pre-order the original screenplay for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald right here for the UK and here for the US.

As always, keep coming back to Pottermore for more news – we’ll be making more exciting publishing announcements later this year.
