Award-winning illustrator Jim Kay speaks about his work on Prisoner of Azkaban, as the illustrated version hits book shops today. We also have another peek inside the book itself.
From a glorious, triple-decker Knight Bus to a majestic Hippogriff, there are many iconic visual moments from the third Harry Potter adventure, Prisoner of Azkaban.
As the illustrated edition of the book goes on sale today, Jim Kay talks about the new drawings he worked on for his latest instalment, including some of his favourite pieces and the challenges he faced. After all, the wizarding world is a complicated place.
We can also reveal some new, gorgeous images from inside the book, including a sleepy Buckbeak getting some kip and a terrifying, yet oddly beautiful swarm of Dementors. Only Jim Kay could make the Dementors seem pretty.
Jim has been reimagining the Harry Potter books since his first illustrated edition, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was published in 2015. With the new book out in shops, we look forward to the illustrator’s next foray into the wizarding world.
