Special Lumos screening of Fantastic Beasts with J.K. Rowling and Eddie Redmayne

Tickets go on sale today at 4pm BST (11am ET) for a star-studded advance screening of Fantastic Beasts at New York’s Carnegie Hall, with all proceeds going to J.K. Rowling’s international non-profit children’s organization Lumos.

With J.K. Rowling’s screenwriting debut, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, soon to be released, Pottermore are delighted to announce that the author will be attending a special screening of the new film to help raise funds for Lumos Foundation USA on Saturday 12 November.

The family event will be held in New York, in keeping with the film’s setting , and will take place at the esteemed venue Carnegie Hall, where J.K. Rowling will be on stage in conversation with the film’s main star, Eddie Redmayne, prior to the screening.

Fantastic Beasts director David Yates, who also directed the final four Harry Potter movies, will introduce the film, with other members of the stellar cast also in attendance.

This event will follow the film’s worldwide premiere, being held earlier that week in New York, with the UK premiere in London happening the following week.

‘We are profoundly grateful to J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. and Scholastic for making this exciting film screening possible,’ said Georgette Mulheir, CEO of Lumos.

‘Not only is it an opportunity to be among the first to see the film, but it will help Lumos do the vital work needed to help the millions of vulnerable and voiceless children in orphanages get back to their families and family-life, which is their right and it is where they belong.’

The special screening will give ticket-holders the chance to watch the hotly anticipated new film a handful of days before Fantastic Beasts’ official release on 18 November, as well as to raise some money for Lumos’s programmes around the world.

The proceeds from the event, coupled with Lumos’ 100% pledge, will mean that every cent made from ticket sales will go to the charity, supporting disadvantaged children in orphanages across the globe get back to a family life.

With ticket prices ranging from $25 to $500, this event looks set to be an incredible fundraiser for Lumos.

And with Fantastic Beasts released in cinemas less than a week later, it’s going to be a very fantastic November indeed.
