Darkness descends once again as Dark Arts returns for the Hallowe’en season – beware, this time Death Eaters are at large!

We always brace ourselves to find out what dark delights Warner Bros. Studio Tour London has in store for us at Hallowe’en. We’re pleased to say that this year it will be positively frightful. That’s because the focus this year is on the loyal followers of the Dark Lord himself – the Death Eaters.

In the films, followers of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named each had a unique mask that was designed and hand-etched to reflect their personality. Members of the Harry Potter Art Department will be on hand to demonstrate the pain-staking process behind those intricate designs. The original Death Eater masks and costumes from the film series will be on display to see up close.

Returning to the Studio Tour’s Great Hall this year will be over 100 floating pumpkins, as seen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Hand-carved by the Prop Making Department, no two are alike. Expect other goodies, such as red apples and cauldrons of lollipops, on the Great Hall tables.

If something a little more icky is your scene, you can get hands-on with the all kinds of variety of slime and goo – from troll snot to silvery unicorn blood – and see how it was created.

Also returning this year is the Studio Tour’s ‘Hogwarts After Dark’ events, where brave witches, wizards and Muggles can enjoy a magical Hallowe’en on the set of the Great Hall on 25-27 October. Comprising a two-course dinner underneath those floating pumpkins, dessert will then be served in the Forbidden Forest in the company of the magical creatures therein. Let’s hope Buckbeak and Aragog haven’t developed a sweet tooth…

The Studio Tour’s Dark Arts features run from Friday 27 September until Sunday 10 November. Tickets for the ‘Hogwarts After Dark’ are on sale now from the official website.
