Warner Bros. Studio Tour London opens Privet Drive to the public

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

We know the Dursleys aren’t exactly the most welcoming of hosts, but at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, Privet Drive is opening its doors to the public for the very first time.

From Friday 27 May to Monday 6 June, fans will be able to step inside number four, Privet Drive and walk around the house that Harry (reluctantly) grew up in, all in celebration of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) and its fifteenth anniversary.

If you’ve visited Warner Bros. Studio Tour London before, you will know that Privet Drive is always on display from the outside, with many enjoying posing merrily next to the Privet Drive street sign or outside number four itself.

Now, for a limited time, Dursley fans (which we’re sure you all are deep, deep down) will be able to walk into the living room and enjoy the delights of Petunia and Vernon Dursley’s decorating; from aesthetically unpleasing sofas to the worst curtains ever imaginable – the set decorators had a lot of fun picking out particularly terrible pieces!

Although this room was the setting for many horrible memories for Harry, it is also where he was bombarded with letters, inviting him to go to Hogwarts, and far away from his supposed ‘family’.

That iconic letter, created by graphic design team MinaLima, will of course be on set too, with hundreds of them suspended in the air, just like they were when they flew out of the fireplace during Philosopher’s Stone (2001). Fans will also be able to check out the mechanism that was built in order to shoot out such letters during filming, with approximately 10,000 being used for the iconic moment.

The Dursleys’ costumes, in all their grotesque finery, will also be on display, so enemies of bad jumpers, beware.

Pop down to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London from 27 May to 6 June to enjoy the tour with a Dursley twist. Let’s just hope the Dursleys themselves don’t turn up…
