Universal Creative, who are the great minds behind the rides and experiences you see at Universal’s theme parks, worked with Hagrid actor Robbie Coltrane to study his facial and body movements to achieve this uncanny likeness.
And the devil is certainly in the details; the animated figure has 24 different body actions and includes digital scans of Coltrane’s eyebrows, lashes and individual hairs. And, of course, Hagrid comes equipped with his signature umbrella.
The model is also the same height as Hagrid is in the films, which is 7 feet, 6 inches, in case you were wondering. Hagrid definitely doesn’t have any trouble reaching high shelves, let’s put it that way.
The ride, which will not just feature Hagrid, but many magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest (you can read about which ones here) is set to be quite the summer experience, so get yourself down there for a ride to remember.
