J.K. Rowling, who worked with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany on the eighth Harry Potter story, said of the new move to Germany:

‘Hamburg feels a very big step for us, because it’s the first time we are going to a non- English-speaking theatre. That’s going to be an interesting extension of this idea, and we are very excited about it!’

‘I am looking forward immensely to working with the incredible talent within the acting and wider theatre communities in Germany,’ added John, with Jack enthusing that he ‘can’t wait to see the magic they make’.

The play, which opened in London many moons ago now back in 2016, will be broadening its horizons over the next few years, with new productions also coming soon to Melbourne, Australia and San Francisco. In New York, the play has already scooped up many prestigious awards on Broadway, and is about to settle into its second year, with a new cast about to join the Cursed Child family.
