New characters coming to the new Fantastic Beasts film were revealed today, as principal photography began at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden.

Standouts include a bounty hunter called Grimmson, played by Icelandic actor Ingvar Sigurdsson; William Nadylam as a wizard called Yusuf Kama; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Skender, the owner of a wizarding circus and Claudia Kim as one of the circus’s ‘featured attractions’.

Warner Bros. also confirmed that Callum Turner will appear as Newt’s older brother, Theseus Scamander, while Zoë Kravitz returns as Leta Lestrange.

Kravitz made a fleeting appearance as Leta in a moving photograph in Newt’s workshop in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, while Turner’s character was name-checked as a war hero and Auror for the Ministry of Magic.

Many of the first film’s central characters are back, too. Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) and No-Maj Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) are all back, and facing ‘new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.’

Credence (Ezra Miller) will also be back in a ‘mysterious way’ and Jude Law will make his debut as Albus Dumbledore. The Hogwarts professor is set to clash with his childhood friend, Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), with the assistance of his former pupil, Newt Scamander.

The new Fantastic Beasts film is slated for release 16 November, 2018. The as-yet-untitled film is being directed by David Yates.
