Thursday 29th Sept 2016
Have you ever imagined yourself in the splendid Great Hall at Hogwarts, feasting on delicious food as candles flicker and ghosts float by? Of course you have. We all do it.
Now you can make this dream a reality (ghosts not guaranteed), as the doors are being thrown open on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 December 2016. The spectacular ‘Dinner in the Great Hall’ returns to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – and you’re invited.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted with welcome drinks and canapés before stepping into the Great Hall itself. A breathtaking moment no doubt, as it will be completely transformed for Christmas, using the original props from the Harry Potter films. Lined with trees adorned with golden baubles shaped like moons and partridges, while a mock-feast complete with flaming Christmas puddings dresses the long tables, you won’t want to leave.
But that’s only the beginning.
Once you’ve walked the red carpet, you’ll enter the very same set that was used in filming, where the wand of your choice will await. You can choose from the wands of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Professor Dumbledore and You-Know-Who. Then you’ll enjoy your first two courses of Christmas dinner with all the trimmings in this festive setting.
Afterwards, you can wander off from your dinner as you explore the whole Studio Tour, coming face-to-face with the sets you know and love. These include the Gryffindor Common Room and the Weasleys’ kitchen from The Burrow, dressed as they were for winter scenes in the films.
Your next stop is dessert on platform nine and three-quarters; a selection of festive dessert bowls served next to the original Hogwarts Express locomotive. It’s then time for a refreshing glass of Butterbeer in the backlot café, before strolling up the wizarding shopping street of Diagon Alley, and taking in the astonishing Hogwarts castle model (covered in a layer of filmmaking snow especially for the festive season). The snow is hand-sprinkled onto the majestic model and is made from a combination of paper and salt – chosen because it clumps like real snowflakes and catches the light like ice.
Last but not least, you can enjoy music and dancing, and the bar is available for those who wish to purchase additional drinks.
If this sounds like something you’d like to add to your Christmas wish list, the Studio Tour’s ‘Dinner in the Great Hall’ events will take place on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 December from 6pm until midnight. The evenings are open to over 18s only. Guests will be seated at tables of 10 or 12 and tickets are priced at £240 per person.
Tickets will go on sale on Thursday 6 October at 10am BST, via the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London website.
